Keeping the faith

Well, from my previous post you've heard I'm getting laid off from my job. Like I said before, it was a shock and the first time in my life I haven't had a back up plan or a job waiting in the wings. I've NEVER quit or left a job without another job to start. So, needless to say this is causing me great anxiety to put it mildly. Last night I had a dream - I was laid off my job, David left me and my car was stolen. Needless to say it was a NIGHTMARE and I was incredibly happy to wake up in my warm bed next to my wonderful husband. WHEW! So, as I read my friends' blogs this morning with their trials and tribulations that they are handling with great hope and faith and I wake up from my nightmare of last night, I have renewed hope and faith. I know everything happens for a reason and we will find our way the way God intended. I know it won't be easy but I am so very thankful for the time I had before and the gifts I still have in my life. This is just another BUMP in the road...HAPPY SUNDAY!

Family Pictures

We had our family pictures taken back on May 31, 2008. This was my birthday present and after a couple of reschedules, we finally did it! This was the first time we've had family pictures taken. Even David and I haven't had pictures since our wedding.

Shocked

Yesterday sucked. I got laid off from my job. Times are tough and headcount had to be reduced. I'm the third of three employees so it didn't take rocket science to figure out it was me who had to go. I'm still shocked and saddened. I've been laid off once before and I had a ton of warning, a job waiting, a big severance and begged them to let me go. This time there was no warning, no job waiting, no severance and I wanted to stay. Now, we have to come up with a game plan. I have no idea what I'm going to do!

Father's Day Weekend

We had a fun time last weekend. Friday, we packed up the RV and headed to my Dad and Barbara's house on Lake Palestine in Chandler, TX. We love to go there. They live on a very large lot and there is a spacious area for us to park the RV and hook up in the driveway area. It's also very convenient because it's behind the house in the backyard area and it's enclosed so we can let the dogs in and out without worrying about tie outs, leashes, etc. We got there Friday and just hung out. We broke out the bubble machine that Neenee has been storing since winter. It was so awesome. I think I enjoyed the bubbles more than Wyatt did! It made the largest bubbles and like this picture, several had bubbles inside of bubbles. LOVED IT!

On Saturday, we ran errands and played. There was an estate sale down the street and they had a golf cart for sale. Dad and Barbara live on a penninsula of the lake with a small neighborhood. The people in the neighborhood all know each other and it's a very "homey" atmosphere. A golf cart is perfect to run around on and go down to the little park and visit the neighbors. It's all private property with very little traffic. By Saturday things were half price at the estate sale, so Dad got a good deal on the golf cart. NeeNee had to work that day so we all met her in Tyler after work and went to Mercado's (the original Posado's. YUM!) Here is a picture of Grampa, Wyatt and Neenee.

We really enjoyed the golf cart. Here is a picture of Daddy and Wyatt driving the golf cart around the neighborhood on Sunday morning.

The dogs loved the golf cart too. Holly loved riding in it and running alongside of it. Here we found a turtle in the road and stopped to rescue it. You may notice the puddle under him. Holly jumped off the cart and ran over to him. Just as she stuck her nose down to smell him, he pee'd. She scared it right out of him. So, here we are showing him to Wyatt before we scooted him off the road. You can see the golf cart in the background with Holly perched in her new favorite seat.
Here are our tired babies on the way home from Grampa and Neenee's house after a fun weekend. Paco was on the other side also sleeping but out of camera range.

Funny Boy

Just some random thoughts from yesterday and today. Yesterday, Wyatt just played and explored while I worked.
When he was playing like this all I could think of was - "The world from a different point of view."

Here Wyatt was being naughty. He had that sinister grin and laugh and he was trying to eat the scrap of paper he grabbed off the desk. I did get him to stop and pose for the picture though. haha.

This was from this morning. He's been eating with his spoon for a while now and he's making less mess each time. I set him down with his cereal, fruit and spoon and walked away for a few minutes. He was so quiet I knew he was eating. When I turned around to check on him, he had cleaned his bowl. Here he's showing me his empty bowl - BIG BOY!

A Blast from the Past!

Where do I start? You know how it is when one person finds/contacts you and that pulls a thread to a whole host of other people? That's what happened to me. My childhood friend, Krista emailed me on myspace one day and now months later on a visit from Ohio, a bunch of us stood in her brother's living room last night and reconnected after years and years. The cast of characters: Krista with her kids - Justin and Ashley, Andrea and her precious son Luke, Venus and her daughters - Lacy and Destiny, Kerri and her son, Tracy, his wife and 3 kids, and Aunt Chris and Moe and Wyatt and I. What a wonderful gift to be able to see these wonderful people from childhood and get to reminisce and catch up. It was great to see everyone and thanks to the blogs, I feel like we didn't miss a beat! Here are some pics of my old friends. By "old" I mean long time friends. :-)

First Day of Summer Daycare

Kelsey is Wyatt's regular babysitter and lucky for us she also lives next door. Since Mother's Day Out is out for the summer, Kelsey is Wyatt's summer daycare for June and July - Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 am until 2:30 pm. Today was our first day. Wyatt and I went yesterday to get a baby gate for their stairs and a booster seat so he can sit at the table for lunch. This morning at about 9:20am Kelsey came over to get the first load of stuff to take over - pack 'n play, laundry basket of toys and books, baby bag with diapers, wipes, blanket, change of clothes, lunch, juice, milk, baby gate and booster seat. When Kelsey came in, Wyatt knew something was up. He immediately started clinging to me and crying. We calmed him and proceeded to walk next door. Brandon (Kelsey's 16 year old brother) was also there to greet us. He was kind enough to put the pack 'n play together upstairs and we put up the baby gate. Wyatt fussed the entire time in fear of my leaving. I tried to calm him but finally just gave up and left. I felt so bad (like always) but also like always he stopped crying about 20 seconds after I left. Kelsey said they had a fun time and he did great. He loves going over there so I knew this would be a great thing. Right now, he's taking another nap so I can finish working. So far so good!

Wedding on Saturday

We went to Renee's wedding on Saturday. I was the matron of honor so I went up early to get ready and help get Renee ready. David, Wyatt and our neighbors Rob and Linda rode together to the wedding. At the rehearsal we were concerned because Wyatt cried each time he saw me walk by while we were rehearsing. David was afraid he would have to sit outside of the wedding on Saturday. But, all was well. My friend Karrie was also there so between all of the friends and David, Wyatt was loaded down with toys (namely cell phones) so he didn't even notice when I walked up the aisle. He was a good boy throughout the wedding as well. Then, I felt extra special when as I walked back out after the wedding Wyatt smiled, giggled and squealed at me. What a great feeling!

The wedding was beautiful and Renee and Adam were very happy. It was a wonderful day!

The Boy in Socks

Wyatt LOVES David's socks! Lately when I'm folding socks Wyatt takes a few out and tries them on. Last Friday, May 30th, he found these.

They are so big, they look like stockings...haha.

Evening Fun Outside

This was from Wednesday, May 28th. We went outside to hang out and Daddy was cleaning the garage. Wyatt was digging in some of my plants so I made him is own pot 'o dirt to play in. Here he is posing for me.

Here we were taking a break from blowing bubbles. He likes his Thomas the Train Table. Can you tell by that cheesy grin on his face?

Isn't she pretty?! This is Hollypeno "guarding" us while we play and work. The picture is blurry but I had to post it because it's one of the few good pictures of her. She's not too photogenic.

After play time, it's time to cool off! Here is Wyatt enjoying the sprinkler.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fun Memorial Day Weekend. We went down to the Clay family's Kemah bay house. That's Aunt Kathy's family for those of you who don't know the Clay family. It's the same place we went for the Martine Cousin weekend (again, David's maternal side of the family) last July. Sooo beautiful! We took the RV down and had fun in the sun for 2 solid days. We arrived about 11am on Saturday and left about that time on Monday. We had a great time visiting everyone - Uncle Don and Aunt Kathy, Cousin Kevin and Michelle, Cousin Kathleen, Cousin Jennie, Clay, Kelly and Emily, Jim, Renee, Patrick and his friend Matt and Dennis. Here are some pictures of our weekend:

Here is our RV that we parked across from the bay house. It was so convenient!

Here is our view of the "compound". The main house is in the back of the picture and the guest houses are the one with the seagulls on it and the white little cabin to the right of that.

Sunday morning Uncle Don, Aunt Kathy, David, Wyatt and I got up EARLY and went to mass at St. Christopher's in Houston to see Father Tu. He was at Uncle Don and Aunt Kathy's church for 5 years and recently moved south to St. Christopher's. He is wonderful and we really enjoy attending his masses. He and Wyatt bonded last year when they met. This was at the little Mexican restaurant down the street from the church. We took Father Tu out for breakfast. It was so good! Our church here in Keller is so big there is NO WAY to walk up to the priest and ask him to join us for breakfast. There are just too many parishoners. This was Monday morning before we left. David had just returned from a boat ride with Uncle Don and Cousin Kevin. Wyatt was so happy to see Daddy!

Tired baby - this was just after we left.
