We Are Off...
In the last few years, this is the week we take our summer vacation. This year, it will be more like a VERY LONG weekend. We are leaving this afternoon with the family and RV and heading south. Our destination will be Bastrop, TX to DK Ranch where we got married. Uncle Don is renovating a caboose and it will be the first time we will get to see it since last year when he bought it old and empty. We are thinking that tonight we may stop somewhere on the way and spend the night at an RV park or we may go all the way. You never know with us... We'll be back on Tuesday and I'll post more! Happy Labor Day Weekend!

First Day of Mother's Day Out
My baby is getting so big. Today was his first day at Mother's Day Out at North Fort Worth Baptist Church (our Catholic church doesn't have a Mother's Day Out program - what's up with that?). Just like always, he walks in like a big boy and panics when he realizes I have to leave. But, he was good and only fussed a little bit. He is one of the oldest in his new class and since he's not two yet, he has one of the same teachers from last year. Beginning today, he will be taking his nap on his new nap mat that he carried around all over the house last night. It will be his first experience not in a crib, pack 'n play or RV bunk bed with baby gate. Here is a recap of how much he's grown:
This was the first day of MDO on February 5, 2008.

Here he is on the last day of MDO on May 29, 2008.

Finally, here is my big boy today on his first day of MDO.

My oh my how time flies!

Weekend at Grampa and Neenie's
We went over to Chandler to visit Grampa and Neenie this weekend. David flew in from Philadelphia on Friday morning. Wyatt and I picked him up from the airport then headed home to get packed up and get yard work done. Then we headed out with the RV to Grampa and Neenie's house. We arrived about 4:30pm, set up, unpacked and had a lovely visit with Grampa. We ran a couple of errands then went to the local pizza place to pick up a very tasty pizza and headed back to the house to watch the Cowboy game. GO COWBOYS!
Saturday, we went to Tyler to get a part for the golf cart, get the dually inspected and went to the grocery store. Neenie was originally scheduled to work all day, but got off work at 2pm so by the time Wyatt woke up from his nap and Neenie got home, we had everything unpacked and the guys had the golf cart fixed. Then, we had more time to visit and play on the Wii fit. What fun! My favorites were hula hoop, slolam skiing and the ski jump. Now, I am really wanting a Wii and a Wii fit. I was a maniac! haha. David was awesome at it too. He usually gets the highest scores at whatever he does, but it was fun that both of us were competitive on the Wii fit. There was a pretty big rainstorm so we spent several hours on the Wii fit. Wyatt even had fun watching. After the rain we went riding on the golf cart around the neighborhood. David and Grampa fixed us a wonderful dinner of steak, baked potatoes, corn on the cob and salad. It was fantastic!
Sunday, we got up to a breakfast (again cooked by Grampa and David) of bacon, eggs and toast. We all enjoyed breakfast and then packed up and headed home. Here are some pictures of our fun weekend at the lake.

Baking Cookies and a Visit with Maw
I found a package of toll house chocolate chips in the fridge last week and decided Wyatt and I should make cookies. I usually get the itch to bake cookies at Christmas time. There's something about the chill in the air and the smell of cookies that seems so cozy to me. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to go ahead and bake them now. Wyatt liked watching the mixer, playing with the measuring cups, and tasting the dough and cookies. YUM YUM!

Today we had a lunch date with Renee's mom at her house. Renee and I have been BFF's since 1992 and her mom has always been like a mom to me too. She used to do my laundry, feed me and buy me essentials when I was dirt poor and I love her for it! Anyway, she loves Wyatt like her own grandson and we decided to go for a visit. She made some yummy chicken salad sandwiches and cut up some very tasty fruit. Wyatt and I brought some of our soft and chewy toll house cookies to share. Renee had the day off and came for lunch too. We had alot of fun. Wyatt enjoyed exploring, playing, and reaking general havoc the entire day. Poor guy was so beat, he slept all the way home from Arlington. He NEVER sleeps on car trips these days. I'm pretty tired too. Our lunch date lasted into an all afternoon visit. It was GREAT FUN!

Noodle Necklace and Couch Pillows
2nd post for today (see the post below for weekend stuff)
Our fun craft of the day was making a noodle necklace. Yesterday, we colored the noodles and let them dry and today we sorted the colors and made the necklace. In between playing with other toys, we were able to finish the necklace. Here is the finished product.

My little sweetie loves the couch in the front living room. His favorite thing is to throw the pillows off the couch, play on the couch and then jump on the pillows. Needless to say, it's hard for him to accomplish all of this because by the time he's gotten the pillows off, I've run in and stopped him from doing the other two. He was having a big time this morning laying in the pillows.

Random Weekend Stuff
As a follow up to last weekend's entry, we had another low key weekend which was very nice. This was a weekend between David's travels and it was cloudy and threatening rain so it was nice to be home and be able to relax.
Friday, we went out to eat at our favorite local restaurant, Fresco's.
Saturday, we hung around, did chores and hosted dinner for some of Prevost Car's IT guys. They are here in town working on a computer migration for David's office. Three of the four came over for a steak dinner and Olympic watching on Saturday evening. It was interesting as I made the observation that as we were watching Michael Phelps obtain his 8th gold medal, we were watching it with two Canadians and one Swede - our own international watching party.
Sunday morning, David made us a breakfast of eggs, bacon and biscuits. It's become an every Sunday thing these last several weeks. It's our favorite time of the day and all three of us enjoy it since Daddy is such a great cook. We spent the rest of the day driving around looking for a future camping spot at the lake, visiting with our neighbors and playing outside.
Here are some pictures of Wyatt sitting at the kitchen island watching Daddy cook and enjoying the Sunday paper.

The Joy of a Cardboard Box
Don't ya just love a cardboard box? I rememeber as a kid the excitement when we got a new appliance that came in a big box. What fun it is to pretend the box is a magical place where you can hide. Well, the joy came to our house yesterday. I like to order Wyatt's diapers online because I can get them in bulk and they are shipped free to us. So, they arrived yesterday in a box the perfect size for a 21 month old.
This was taken when the box first arrived.
Here is a video of him enjoying his box. This was right after it arrived. His onesie is unbuttoned because I was just about to change his diaper when the doorbell rang. When we went to the door, it was our package and I didn't have a chance to snap him back up.
After the video was taken he played in the box for a while. Then we decorated the box with stickers and our beautiful scribble and doodles. Here is the finished product.

Incognito
Wyatt is getting so close to the "terrible twos". When I read Krista's blog, I can completely sympathize with her adventures with Abby. The challenge is keeping a step ahead of him in the creativity department which in turn keeps him busy and not destructive.
His latest "thing" is to pull all of the pillows off the couch in the front living room. He's been better in that at least he's no longer jumping on the couch and jumping off into the pillows. He seems to be more interested in staying in the pillows on the floor.
This evening, he kept trying to climb under his little baby chair and kept getting in awkward situations. At the same time I was doing laundry. My brilliant idea was to cover him with the laundry basket and see what happened. He loved it. He loves playing with the dogs so much that they've learned how to escape his wrath. But on the other side, both Paco and Holly know to hang around him if they want to play. It is a very interesting dynamic. So, here is a new video of the fun. Notice the pillows on the floor. Also, lately we've been noticing more that both the dogs and the baby are in unison sitting and laying down on command. They get confused as to whom we are speaking to so everyone minds. I have a feeling we better enjoy that while it lasts...haha. Oh yea, "uh-oh" is the new word/phrase of choice.

Weekend Entertainment
It's come to that time in the year, the dog days of summer, when we stay home more than usual. It's too hot to take the RV pretty much anywhere around here. It takes a long time for it to cool down and there aren't very many fun things to do except go swimming. We are fortunate that we have several family and friends who invite us to swim in their pools.
Friday night, David did his yard work ritual (mow, weed eat, blow, etc.) and Wyatt was happy to join in. Wyatt is infatuated with the lawn equipment. I keep saying I'm going to write a little book for him with yard equipment characters. His favorite is the blower. Of course, he prefers it to be off because it's so loud it scares him when it's on.

Saturday, David, Wyatt and I met Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Paul at Great Grampa's house in Dallas. The boys helped him with a home improvement project. Aferwards, we all had lunch at the Midway Point and went back to Great Grampa's house to visit. Wyatt really enjoyed hanging out with Great Grampa and playing with DanDee the dog and the piano.

Afterwards, we went to Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Paul's to cool off in the pool and play some dominoes. GIRL POWER! We are currently on a roll with the girls beating the boys to many games to count. :-)
Sunday, we went to Mark and Brenda's (Wyatt's Godparents and our good friends) to see their new house and visit with them and Bethany and Colleen. We all played and swam in the pool and had a great time. We absolutely LOVE their new house.

Fun Day at the Park
Happy Friday! Wyatt and I got up this morning, went to the donut shop and then to the park. We sat on a park bench and enjoyed our treats from the donut shop. All the while, he pointed and squealed at the playground. Then, after we finished our breakfast, we played. The temperature was in the 80's at 9:30am when we were playing so it was pretty nice. After we played we went for a little walk and then ran some errands. Here are our some pictures of our fun.

Our Major Home Improvement Project
While we were on vacation in Arkansas (see below), our neighbor watered the back yard for us. Well, she forgot the sprinkler for a few hours. The flowers looked fantastic but our bedroom was soaked. Our siding in the back had some rotten spots and there was a big enough one next to our bedroom window that the water leaked in and soaked the carpet. When we first arrived home, we panicked and thought there was a plumbing problem. Our friend John came over and also Rob from next door (neighbor's husband). Through investigation they figured it was the hole in the siding and the marathon backyard watering that caused the wetness. Thankfully, that next Saturday, July 12th, the three guys (with some help from Rob's son Brandon) replaced the siding and insulation on the back of the house. It was so hot that day - it topped out at 106 degrees. We were so thankful for our wonderful friends!

Back Track
Ok, I have some pictures and events to back track to. Back on July 1 to July 6, we went to Bella Vista, AR to visit Grandpa and Grammy Jacoby and meet our friends, Tracey and Lonnie from Olathe, KS. We had great fun. We spent 3 days on the lake and the guys played golf 3 days. It was fun to spend time with Grampa and Grammy and they also stayed with Wyatt on Friday and Saturday while we played at the lake. Friday, they all came out for a boat ride.

Here is a picture of the front of the house.

This picture was taken from the golf course below. The house is on the right. What a view!

Wyatt's first ride on the tube. They pulled David and Wyatt on the tube behind the boat and he LOVED IT! I was more scared than he was.

David, Wyatt and I being pulled on the tube.

Me on my 7th try of skiing. I grew up skiing and have always been able to get up. I haven't skied in over 10 years and boy I could tell. This was the closest I came to skiing.

I loved this picture of David driving the boat with the sun shining over him.

Ice Cream Delight
I'm having a hard time getting back into the blog. I have alot to catch up on and just enter our day to day. I'm not working so I should have all this extra time but somehow I don't. Today Wyatt and I had breakfast, played, unloaded the dishwasher, picked up and now we are about to sweep the floors before his nap.
He's such a funny guy. This past Sunday, David took us up to Sheridan's for some frozen custard. YUM! Wyatt had a puppy cone. It's a little cone with vanilla custard and the perfect size for a toddler. It also happens to be the cone they give to dogs. Paco and Holly have gotten one several times AND they are free. So nice. Anyway, he LOVED his ice cream.

These were taken in the garage when we got home. Needless to say and much to his delight, he got a bath after his ice cream cone. He's eaten and loved popsicles before, but this was his first ice cream cone. Yesterday, we were playing flash cards with letters and pictures and when we got to the letter "I", the picture was an ice cream cone. It was so funny. He got excited, touched the picture and gave it a kiss. He loved his ice cream!
